Tin Mao

Tin Mao is an accomplished professional in the field of cell and gene therapy, currently serving as the Director of Cell Therapy Analytical Development at Genentech since November 2022. In this role, Tin leads a team of scientists focused on developing analytical methods and characterization assays for clinical-stage cell therapy programs. Prior to Genentech, Tin held senior leadership positions at GenEdit and Ambys Medicines, where responsibilities included developing RNAi and CRISPR therapeutic payloads and leading bioanalytical and assay development initiatives, respectively. Tin's career also includes significant contributions to AAV gene therapy analytics at Sangamo Therapeutics and the development of therapeutic shRNAs for Hepatitis B Virus at Benitec Biopharma. Tin's academic background includes a Ph.D. in Immunology and a B.S. in Biochemistry from the University of California, Davis.
