Zhiyong Yang

Zhiyong Yang is a highly experienced researcher with a robust background in molecular genetics and immunology. Currently serving as a Principal Scientific Researcher at Genentech since October 2019, Yang has previously held the position of Senior Scientific Researcher. Prior experience includes a specialist role at UCSF, where significant contributions were made in developing knockin reporter mice for IgE-producing B cells and GSNOR conditional knockout mice, revealing critical insights into lymphocyte development. Leadership skills were demonstrated as President of the Association of Chinese Students and Scholars at UCSF, advocating for approximately 700 members. Early career experience includes postdoctoral positions at Baylor College of Medicine and Mount Sinai School of Medicine, where novel mRNA tagging methods and taste receptor expression studies were conducted. Academic qualifications include a PhD in Molecular Genetics from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a BS in Microbiology and Immunology from Wuhan University.
