Nilla Varsani has extensive experience in regulatory and governance roles within the healthcare and legal sectors. Since June 2017, Nilla has served as Overall Chair of the Investigation Committee at the General Chiropractic Council, overseeing effective operations while ensuring decision-making independence. Additionally, Nilla holds multiple positions with the General Medical Council, including Senior Project Manager and Lay Member, and serves as a Fitness to Practise Panel Lay Member at The Nursing and Midwifery Council. In November 2022, Nilla became the Selection Panel Lay Chair & Independent Member for the Judicial Appointments Commission, responsible for shortlisting and assessing candidates for judicial roles. Nilla has also been an Executive and Senior Leadership Coach since November 2019 and a Presiding Magistrate for HM Courts & Tribunals Service since March 2008. Educational qualifications include a Legal Practice Course from the College of Law in London and a Bachelor of Laws from Queen Mary University of London.
