Michael Hanley

Michael Hanley currently serves as Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer at General Motors, a position held since December 2024. Prior to this role, Michael held various senior positions at GitHub, including Chief Technology Officer and Chief Security Officer, and was involved with OpenSSF as a Governing Board Member. Michael gained extensive experience at Cisco, serving as Chief Information Security Officer and Head of Security at Duo, where responsibilities included leading security functions and compliance. Prior roles at Duo Security included Vice President of Security, Senior Director of Security, and Director of Duo Labs. Michael holds a Master’s degree in Information Security Policy and Management from Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Michigan State University.
