Steve Woods

Steve Woods is the SVP, Division Head, Individual Health Reinsurance at Gen Re. Steve has over 20 years of experience in the insurance industry.

Steve started their career in 1991 as a Sr. Underwriter at Paul Revere. Steve then moved to MassMutual Financial Group in 1996 and served as their Chief Underwriter for three years. In 1999, they left MassMutual to join Medical Information Bureau as their VP Marketing Manager. Steve spent a year at Medical Information Bureau before moving to MetLife in 2000.

At MetLife, Steve served as the Director of Distribution Strategy & Management for 11 years. Steve helped MetLife grow their individual disability business significantly during their tenure. In 2011, Steve left MetLife to join Gen Re.

At Gen Re, Steve is responsible for leading the Individual Health Reinsurance division. Steve has helped Gen Re become a leading provider of health reinsurance in the US.

Steve Woods has an MBA from Norwich University and a BS in Finance from Worcester State University.

They are on a team with Andrew Gifford - General Counsel, Sabine Denné - Head of Global Marketing & Client Communications, and Molly Corbett - Chief Risk Officer, North America P&C. Steve Woods reports to Kara Raiguel, President & CEO.
