Alok Saldanha

Alok Saldanha has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning several companies and roles. In their most recent position at Generate Biomedicines as Associate Director, Informatics Data Systems, they lead a team of software and data engineers to enhance data flow between wet and dry labs for ML-powered drug discovery. Prior to that, at Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR), Alok served as the Associate Director Software Engineering, managing a team of software engineers and spearheading initiatives to improve engineering efforts. Alok also worked as a Technical Associate Director, leading the development of a core registration layer. Alok's experience also includes working at InterSystems as a Software Developer, implementing healthcare interoperability protocols, and at Novartis as an IT/Business Analyst, designing and implementing LIMS-type systems. Before that, they worked at Trefis and Ellington Management Group in technology-related roles. Alok's academic background includes being a PhRMA Fellow at the PhRMA Foundation, a Postdoctoral Scholar at the California Institute of Technology, and a Graduate Student at Stanford University.

Alok Saldanha obtained a Bachelor's degree in Physics and Biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1999. Alok then went on to pursue their Doctorate in Genetics at Stanford University from 1999 to 2004, as well as at Stanford University School of Medicine from 1999 to 2003. In 2004, they completed a Postdoctoral program in Biology at Caltech. In terms of additional certifications, Alok Saldanha has completed various courses and programs in fields such as deep learning, secure software implementation, genomic data science, and systems biology. Alok has also obtained certifications from platforms like Coursera, LinkedIn, and Amazon Web Services (AWS).
