Hak J. Chang

Hak J. Chang's work experience includes roles in various companies and organizations. Hak J. is currently the VP, Head of Intellectual Property at Generation Bio since March 2023. Prior to this, they served as the Sr. Director, Head of Intellectual Property at Generation Bio from September 2021 to February 2023. Before joining Generation Bio, Hak was the Chief Intellectual Property Officer at Auransa Inc. from September 2016 to March 2019. Hak J. also worked as Counsel at McDermott Will & Emery LLP for a short period in 2016. Hak's earlier experience includes being a Senior Patent Counsel at Alexion Pharmaceuticals, Inc. from March 2011 to December 2015. Hak J. also worked as an Associate Attorney at Hamilton, Brook, Smith & Reynolds, P.C. from August 2007 to February 2011. Hak started their career as a Post-Doctoral Associate at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) from August 2002 to August 2003. Prior to that, they worked as a Post-Doctoral Associate at Cornell University from May 2001 to July 2002. Hak's earliest role was as a Research Technologist at University of Washington from July 1995 to May 1997.

Hak J. Chang completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Cell and Molecular Biology from the University of Washington, where they studied from 1990 to 1995. Hak J. then pursued further education and obtained a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from Carnegie Mellon University, where they studied from 1997 to 2001. After a brief break, they continued their education at Suffolk University Law School and earned a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree in Law from 2004 to 2007.
