Generation Hope
Nikki Ummel is an accomplished educator and co-founder of lmnl lit, an arts organization in New Orleans dedicated to fostering community connections through various literary initiatives. With a strong academic background, including multiple degrees in education and creative writing, Nikki currently serves as an English Instructor at Xavier University of Louisiana, where the focus is on health disparities and the impacts of medical discrimination. Previous roles include communications consultant for the Young Leadership Council and communications coordinator for First Tee — Greater New Orleans. Nikki also has extensive teaching experience across various educational institutions, emphasizing literacy and educational equity, alongside contributions to the organizing efforts for community engagement in New Orleans.

To ensure all student parents have the opportunities to succeed and experience economic mobility, Generation Hope engages education and policy partners to drive systemic change and provides direct support to teen parents in college as well as their children through holistic, two-generation programming.
