Toren Finkel has a strong background in the medical and pharmaceutical field. Toren is currently the Co-Founder of Coloma Therapeutics, a position they have held since January 2023. Prior to this, they worked at Generian Pharmaceuticals as the Chief Scientific Officer starting in September 2019. Before that, they held a position at UPMC as the Director of the Aging Institute and a Professor of Medicine in the Cardiology Division, starting in September 2017. Their earlier experience includes various leadership roles at the NIH Clinical Center, such as Chief of the Center for Molecular Medicine, Chief of the Translational Medicine Branch, and Chief of the Cardiology Branch, spanning from January 2001 to September 2017.

Toren Finkel completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Physics at the University of Maryland from 1975 to 1979. Toren then pursued a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree at Harvard University from 1979 to 1986. At the same time, they also earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Biophysics from Harvard University. Moving forward in their education, Toren Finkel undertook an Internship and Residency program in Internal Medicine at Harvard Medical School - Massachusetts General Hospital from 1986 to 1989. Following this, they pursued a Fellowship in Cardiology at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine from 1989 to 1992.
