William Young

VP - Global Sanctions Lead at Genesis

William Young has extensive work experience in the compliance and legal fields. William currently holds the position of VP - Global Sanctions Lead at Genesis, starting in November 2022. Prior to this, they worked at Commerzbank AG as a VP - Sanctions Officer from November 2016 to November 2022. Before that, William held roles at JPMorgan Chase & Co., Citi, Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP, Northeastern University School of Law, Community Economic Development Clinic, Prince Lobel Tye LLP, RSA The Security Division of EMC, and Massachusetts Attorney General Office. These roles ranged from legal internships to compliance officer positions, giving him a strong background in both legal and regulatory compliance work.

William Young attended the University of Hartford from 2003 to 2007, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Psychology and double minors in Business Administration and Management. William then went on to attend Northeastern University School of Law from 2009 to 2012, earning their JD degree. William is also certified as an Attorney by the New Jersey State Bar and the New York State Bar. Additionally, in 2023, they obtained several certifications in the field of cryptocurrency investigation and compliance from Chainalysis and TRM Labs.
