Julie Britton

Chief Clinical Officer at Genesis HealthCare

Julie Britton is the Chief Clinical Officer of Genesis HealthCare. Julie has spent the last 35 years working in post-acute and long-term care settings. She began her career as a nurse but quickly moved to nursing supervisor, ADON and DON roles. Julie then progressed to Manager, Director and Senior Vice President of Clinical Operations, and then Senior Nursing Officer. Julie also serves as Pathway to Excellence Program Coordinator for Genesis.

Julie is Chair of National Nurse Executive Council, an AHCA Regulatory/Survey Committee member and an advisor for Moving Forward Nursing Home Quality Coalition and the National Senior Care Advisory Board. She is Chairperson of the Pennsylvania Health Care Association’s Quality Committee and is a CE reviewer for Pennsylvania State Nurses Association. Julie served as Vice President for the Iota Kappa Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and is on the American Nurses Association Care Coordination Quality Measures Panel. Julie is currently active in AONE, ANA, AADNS, NADONA, PADONA, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Nursing Society, NJHCA, DNPA and PSNA. In 2011, Julie was one of 14 nurses selected nationwide for the Sigma Theta Tau Geriatric Nursing Leadership Academy Fellowship program. Julie was also recognized and awarded the 2017 NADONA Making a Difference Award, and in 2020 and 2022 received the NADONA Excellence in Service and Dedication to LTC Continuum award.

Julie obtained her Associate Degree in Nursing from L.S.U., a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Temple University and a Master’s Degree and Doctor of Nursing Practice from Gwynedd Mercy University. Julie is Board Certified as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Gerontology, a fellow of the Geriatric Nurse Leadership Academy and certified as a Green Belt in Lean Six Sigma.
