Susan Overton

Susan serves as Senior Vice President - General Counsel of Genesis HealthCare. Previously, Susan was the Senior Vice President, Deputy General Counsel - Risk and Litigation at Genesis, and oversaw the management of professional and general liability litigation and advised on proactive strategies with the goal of mitigating risk. In her ten years at Genesis, Susan has been involved in litigation strategy, innovative clinical risk management initiatives, tort reform advocacy and collaborative approaches to support operational needs. Prior to joining Genesis in 2011, Susan defended lawsuits filed against skilled nursing and assisted living providers, hospitals, physicians and other healthcare practitioners. Before her career as a lawyer, Susan graduated from Villanova University with a B.S. in Nursing and worked as a Registered Nurse in acute care hospitals in New York and Pennsylvania.
