Steven Burton

Steven Burton is the Chief Partnerships Officer of Genius Sports, reporting to CEO Mark Locke. An internationally recognized sports lawyer with 20+ years of experience in sports technology, data, and betting integrity, Steven has an outstanding track record of helping sports leagues and federations to commercialize their official data and protect the integrity of their competitions.

Prior to becoming Chief Partnerships Officer in October 2022, Steven served in a number of other leadership roles at Genius, including most recently as Chief Operating Officer. During his tenure, Genius has become the trusted data and integrity partner to some of the world’s highest-profile sports leagues, including the English Premier League, the NFL, the NCAA, and FIBA.

Prior to joining Genius in 2016, Steven was a lawyer in private practice in the London offices of several leading sports law firms including as Partner & Head of Sports Data at Couchmans LLP (2009 - 2016); Legal Director, Sports at Addleshaw Goddard (2004 - 2009) and as a solicitor in the sports division of Hammonds Suddards Edge (now Squire Patton Boggs).
