Andreas Schirmer

Andreas Schirmer is an experienced professional in the field of industrial biotechnology, currently serving as the Technical Lead for the Chain Elongation Platform at Genomatica since June 2019. Previously, Schirmer held significant roles at REG Life Sciences, LLC as Senior Director of Pathway Engineering and at LS9, Inc. as Director of Microbial & Cellular Engineering. Schirmer began the career as a Senior Scientist at Kosan Biosciences, focusing on innovative cancer therapeutics. Schirmer holds a Diploma and Ph.D. in Microbiology, Biochemistry & Molecular Biology from The University of Göttingen, as well as a Postdoctoral degree in Microbiology & Molecular Genetics from Harvard Medical School.
