Kara Dane

Kara Dane currently serves as a Process Development Engineer I at Geno, leading downstream processing for the scale-up of 1,4 butanediol and butylene glycol technologies since June 2021. Prior experience includes positions as an Associate Process Engineer and Process Development Associate at ZestBio, focusing on the extraction of sugars from agricultural waste, and as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the Joint BioEnergy Institute, where a metabolic pathway in E. coli was engineered for fatty acid synthesis. Additionally, Kara has worked as a Lab Assistant at the Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute, contributing to colorectal cancer research. Education includes a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering from Stanford University, expected in June 2025, and a Bachelor's degree in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering with a focus on Biotechnology from the University of California, Berkeley.
