Roisin Sullivan

Translational Bioinformatics Manager at Genomics England

Roisin Sullivan is currently a Translational Bioinformatics Manager and Scientific Delivery Manager at Genomics England, a position held since October 2022. Concurrently, Roisin has been an Honorary Research Associate and PhD Researcher at UCL since June 2016, focusing on the genetic causes and functional effects of rare neurological disorders, with a thesis on the genetic characterization of novel genes related to cerebellar ataxia. Roisin previously worked as a Research Technician in Cancer Genomics at Queen Mary University of London from September 2021 to September 2022, and served as a Teaching Fellow. Academic credentials include a Doctor of Philosophy in Neurogenetics from UCL, a Master of Science in Neuroscience from King's College London, and a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences from Durham University.

Genomics England is a wholly owned company of the Department of Health set up to deliver the 100,000 Genomes Project. It was made possible by the National Institute for Health Research, NHS England, Public Health England, and Health Education England.Genomics England sequences 100,000 whole genomes from NHS patients and their families. Its fourmain aims include bringing benefit to patients, creating an ethical and transparent program based on consent, supporting new scientific discovery and medical insights, and kick-starting the development of the U.K. genomics industry.Genomics England is focusing on patients with rare diseases, and their families, as well as patients with common cancers. It was announced by Jeremy Hunt, Secretary of State for Health, as part of the NHS 65th birthday celebrations in 2013. It is based in London, England.
