Ed Purvis advises Genstar Capital in the area of Industrials.
Ed has almost 40 years of experience in manufacturing and engineering, with the last 34 years being employed by Emerson out of St. Louis, Missouri. During his time at Emerson, he moved rapidly through a wide variety of leadership roles, most recently as Chief Operating Officer of Emerson worldwide. During his 34-year career at Emerson, Ed’s responsibilities were diverse, including roles in product management, marketing, sales, operations as well as several general management positions.
In 2018, after retiring from Emerson, Ed accepted a position on the board of Harsco Corporation, a global company in the Industrial space headquartered in Pennsylvania. Ed currently chairs the compensation committee at Harsco as well. Ed also serves in several other philanthropic and board roles, including currently serving on the board of Premier Health Partners in Dayton. His other life-long interest is serving in organizations that contribute to the development of children and young adults. Today Ed is a board member for DECA (The Dayton Early College Academy – a charter secondary school in inner city Dayton serving minority and underprivileged students). Ed also serves on the board for the Troy Foundation in Troy, Ohio as well as the United States Air Force Museum.
