Jeff Mills is a mission-driven innovator who founded Genuine Foods with the goal of making fresh, scratch-made food accessible to all. Prior to Genuine, Jeff served as the director of food and nutrition services for D.C. Public Schools (DCPS). There, he proved it's possible to dramatically improve the taste, quality and nutritional standards of school food, all while controlling costs and increasing the number of students eating. Recognized by the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, the U.S. Department of Agriculture and The Jamie Oliver Food Foundation, his critically acclaimed and recognized DCPS program turning around a $40 million dollar effort, increasing sales by 45% and increasing profit by 15%. At DCPS, Jeff also was in charge of emergency feeding throughout the city including the earthquake of 2012. He also coordinated logistics for many snow storms that shut down schools. Mills and his team developed innovative solutions during emergencies, including repurposing old school buildings/kitchens, utilizing creative feeding sites and services, then created logistics plans with city operations to ensure smooth flow of supplies into the city and deliveries within the city.
