Matthew Watts is a GIS Analyst at GeoGraph Technologies. Matthew previously worked as a Research Assistant at the NC Clean Energy Technology Center, where they developed a spatial inventory of estimated residual biomasses in the state of North Carolina. Prior to that, they were a Student Intern at the North Carolina Institute for Climate Studies, where they researched the comparison between in situ (station) and satellite soil moisture values using data from the U.S Climate Reference Network (USCRN) and Copernicus (EU) gridded soil moisture product. Matthew has also worked as a Visual Observer/LiDAR UAS Pilot at PrecisionHawk, where they assisted pilots in flight missions and collected aerial LiDAR data for use in multiple industries. Matthew holds an FAA Part 107 license.
Matthew Watts completed their undergraduate studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts in Geography with a Second Major in Economics. Matthew then went on to earn a Master of Geospatial Information Science and Technology from NC State Center for Geospatial Analytics. Matthew is also certified from North Carolina State University in Master of Geospatial Information Science and Technology.
