Kaisa Turunen is a Research Scientist at the Geological Survey of Finland (GTK) with over eleven years of experience in studying environmental issues related to mining, particularly focusing on mine water emissions. Kaisa is currently pursuing PhD studies at the University of Helsinki, researching the implications of mine effluent on surface and groundwater for tracer and hydraulic applications. Additionally, Kaisa serves as the Network Coordinator for the Finnish Mine Water Excellence Network and contributes to an eco-efficient mining research group dedicated to promoting sustainable mineral resource usage. Previous experience includes hydrogeological research at the Finnish Environment Institute and geological research on Esker protection areas. Kaisa holds a Master of Science in Quaternary and Environmental Geology from the University of Helsinki and has participated in an Erasmus program at Charles University.
