Soili Solismaa is a Research Scientist at the Geological Survey of Finland (GTK), specializing in mining environments and environmental geochemical research since February 2008. Within GTK's Environmental Solutions Unit, responsibilities include project coordination and funding application preparation in collaboration with national and international networks. Previously, in the Circular Economy Solutions Unit, focus was on reducing and utilizing mining wastes, along with preparing statements for authorities. Soili has also served as a Geologist and a Research Assistant, contributing to mineralogical assessments and public engagement in geology. Currently, Soili is a PhD student at Aalto University, conducting research on the environmental properties of mine tailings-based products in cooperation with GTK. Education includes a Master’s Degree in Geology and Mineralogy from the University of Turku, obtained in 2012, and experience includes a role as a Junior Geologist at Northland Exploration Finland Oy.
