Maike Nicolai

Maike Nicolai is an experienced communications professional currently serving as the Head of Communications and Media at GEOMAR Helmholtz-Zentrum für Ozeanforschung Kiel since September 2021. With a diverse background in communication roles, Nicolai has previously worked as a Researcher in Knowledge Transfer and Communication at the Climate Service Center Germany, and as a Communications Officer for the IPCC Working Group II Technical Support Unit. Additional experience includes communications positions at the University of Hamburg and GEOMAR, along with roles as a Press Officer at various organizations, including the Internationales Maritimes Museum Hamburg and DAK. Nicolai's educational background includes a Magister Artium in Applied Cultural Sciences from Leuphana University of Lüneburg and training as a journalist at Schleswig-Holsteinischer Zeitungsverlag.
