Jessie Abbate

Jessie Abbate, PhD, is a research scientist and project manager at GEOMATYS since May 2020, focusing on geospatial analytic solutions related to infectious disease spread. Concurrently, Abbate serves as an epidemiologist with The GRAPH Network, building capacity to respond to outbreaks in low- and middle-income countries. As an adjunct research scientist at Laboratoire TransVIHMI, Abbate investigates emerging pathogens and coinfection epidemiology. Previous roles include senior epidemiologist at the World Health Organization, where Abbate analyzed COVID-19 data for 47 African member states and produced recommendations for surveillance. Abbate has held postdoctoral positions at IRD and CNRS, employing statistical methods in infectious disease research. Educational qualifications include a PhD, MS, and BSc in Biology from the University of Virginia.
