Raj M. Desai is a highly experienced academic and policy expert in international development, currently serving as a Professor and previously as an Associate and Assistant Professor at Georgetown University since 2000. In addition, Raj holds the position of Senior Fellow (nonresident) at The Brookings Institution since 2008. Raj's prior experience at the World Bank includes roles as a Senior Private Sector Specialist from 2003 to 2004 and as a Private Sector Specialist from 1996 to 2000, where Raj designed and implemented private sector development initiatives across Eastern Europe, East Asia, and Latin America. Raj earned a Doctor of Philosophy and a Master of Arts in Political Science from Harvard University, along with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from UC Irvine.
