David T. Schaefer currently serves as the Vice President of Research and Policy and previously held the role of Research Director at the Georgia Budget and Policy Institute since July 2019. Prior to this, David was the Managing Director of Advocacy and Director of Policy and Advocacy at the Latin American Association, focusing on issues related to youth, education, immigration, and civil rights. David’s academic background includes a JD with honors from the University of Georgia School of Law and a MA in Political Science, along with a BA in International Relations, also from the University of Georgia. David has held various roles in legal and educational institutions, including serving as Associate Chief of Staff at UNC Greensboro and as an Adjunct Faculty member in Political Science at Guilford College. David's legal experience includes managing immigration-related cases at Khoshnood Law Firm and previous positions in law practice and academia.
