Dorcas Davis has a diverse work experience in the library and education fields. Dorcas began their career as a Reference Assistant at the Craighead County Jonesboro Public Library, where they assisted with cataloging and preservation projects. Dorcas then worked at the Internal Revenue Service as a Tax Examiner, where they reviewed taxpayer documents and provided advice based on tax regulations. Following this, they served as a Library Assistant/ILL Services at Mercer University's Medical Library, where they supervised student workers and managed interlibrary loan services. Dorcas also worked as an Information Associate at the Cobb County Public Library System and a Library Associate at the Atlanta-Fulton County Public Library System, where they performed circulation desk duties and assisted in managing library materials. Dorcas further gained experience as an Instructor and Lambuth Campus Librarian at The University of Memphis, where they taught academic strategies and supervised library staff. Currently, Dorcas is the Director of Continuing Education and Training at the Georgia Public Library Service.
Dorcas Davis has a Master of Library Science degree with a specialization in Library Science from PennWest Clarion. Dorcas also holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) with a concentration in Management from LeMoyne-Owen College. Currently, they are pursuing a Doctor of Education (EdD) in Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Memphis. In terms of secondary education, Dorcas is a graduate of West Memphis Senior High School. In 2012, they obtained a Professional Librarian License from the State of Georgia.
