Aaron O. has extensive work experience in the field of geospatial data engineering, analysis, and management. Aaron began their career at Lean and Hayward as a Survey Draftsperson, where they were responsible for drafting various survey plans. Aaron then joined Geoscience Australia, first as a GIS Analyst, working on the production of the Australian Geographic Reference Image (AGRI) project. Aaron later transitioned to the role of Remote Sensing and GIS Technician, contributing to the Optical Geospatial Radar and Elevation (OGRE) panel. In this role, they facilitated joint purchases of commercial geospatial data across different levels of government. Aaron also served as a Remote Sensing Specialist and GIS Analyst, working on the Unlocking the Landsat Archive (ULA) project, which involved processing and analyzing decades of Landsat data. Aaron played a significant role in the Sentinel 2 Collection 3 Upgrade and Landsat 9 ARD Update projects at Geoscience Australia as a Spatial Data Engineer, and later assumed the role of (Acting) Data Quality Specialist, where they provided technical advice and assessed data quality issues. Additionally, Aaron worked for the ACT Government as an ACTmapi Admin, automating processes and orthorectifying aerial captures, and as a Surveyor, automating quality control of historic portion plans and parish maps. Aaron also briefly served as a Spatial Systems Administrator/Developer at ACT Emergency Services Agency. Aaron has volunteered as a Conference Volunteer for SSSI, where they chaired and participated in marketing activities. Throughout their career, Aaron has demonstrated expertise in spatial data management, processing, analysis, and automation, utilizing tools such as FME, Bentley's Context Capture, and ArcServer.
Aaron O. obtained a diploma in Geographic Information Science and Cartography from the Canberra Institute of Technology from 2009 to 2010. Aaron then pursued a Bachelor's degree in Spatial Science Technology, specializing in Geographic Information Science and Cartography, at the University of Southern Queensland from 2011 to 2013.
