James Johnson

CEO at Geoscience Australia

James Johnson is the CEO of Geoscience Australia. James has been with the company since April 2014, when they were appointed Deputy CEO and Chief of Resources Division. In this role, they led the Australian government's pre-competitive geoscience programs for minerals and energy, including data acquisition, value added interpretive products, investment attraction activities, and advice to government. James was promoted to CEO in April 2017.

Prior to joining Geoscience Australia, Johnson was with GOLD FIELDS as Geology Manager from January 2003 to September 2005. James was then with CENTRAL NORSEMAN GOLD CORPORATION LIMITED as Senior Exploration Geologist from January 1997 to December 1999.

James Johnson earned their Doctor of Philosophy in Ore Deposits and Isotope Geochemistry from the ANU Research School of Earth Sciences.
