Maruf Rahman has a diverse work experience history. Maruf began their career as a Teaching Assistant at Virginia Tech, where they assisted students with course material and graded assignments and exams. After that, they worked as a Research Engineer at Swinburne University of Technology, where they designed experiments and collaborated with large corporations to investigate wireless network signals in industrial buildings. Maruf then joined CSIRO as a System Engineer, where they played a key role in the Critical Infrastructure Protection Modelling & Analysis project, focusing on Australian communication networks. Following this, they worked at Geoscience Australia as an Infrastructure Modeller and later as an Analyst and Infrastructure Engineer, leading the development of a Python-based vulnerability modelling system for electricity infrastructure. Maruf's work experience demonstrates their expertise in infrastructure modelling, technical capability, and collaboration with stakeholders.

Maruf Rahman pursued their education starting from 1997 to 2002 at Virginia Tech, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. In 2003, they attended the University of Melbourne and completed their Master of Science in Telecommunication Engineering.
