Erin Goodsell

Erin Goodsell is the Chief Legal Officer at Weave. Prior to their current position, they served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at J. Reuben Clark Law School from August 2017 to July 2022. In this role, they designed and taught Cyberlaw and Complex Litigation courses to classes of 25+ 2nd- and 3rd- year law students. Erin also built survey courses around various topics, including First Amendment, IP, privacy, anti-hacking, and defamation related to internet law. Goodsell achieved high student ratings each semester by engaging students through direct professional expertise and the ability to explain complex concepts to facilitate discussion.

From September 2016 to July 2022, Goodsell served as the Director & Associate General Counsel at Qualtrics. In this role, they were endorsed by co-founders for the global enterprise software company’s fast-tracked promotion to Managing Counsel. As lead attorney, they were responsible for dispute and incident response, privacy, intellectual property, marketing, litigation, and compliance work. Erin provided counseling to business and product teams across all areas of the company, resolved legal claims and security and data privacy incidents, and negotiated commercial agreements.

Some key accomplishments during Goodsell’s time at Qualtrics include being a key player in preparing for 2 IPOs (2018/2021) and acquisition (2018), completing due diligence requests, revising offering documents, and negotiating acquisition and inter-company agreements. Erin also ensured compliance and PR success by owning IPO/acquisition press and media coverage, developing PR guidance and standards, and helping build

Erin Goodsell earned a J.D. from BYU Law School, where they were class rank 1/150 and summa cum laude. Erin earned a B.A. in Theirtory Major; English Minor from Georgetown University.
