Ted Beck

Ted Beck served as president and chief executive officer of the National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE) from October 2005 to July 2018. The National Endowment for Financial Education is the leading private nonprofit national foundation dedicated to inspiring empowered financial decision making for individuals and families through every stage of life.

In March 2014 Beck was appointed by President Barack Obama to serve on the President’s Advisory Council on Financial Capability for Young Americans. He also serves on the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) Advisory Committee on Economic Inclusion and as an independent trustee of Driehaus Mutual Funds. From 2010 to 2013 Beck served on the President’s Advisory Council on Financial Capability and was chair of its Research and Evaluation Committee. Previously, he served on President George W. Bush’s President’s Advisory Council on Financial Literacy and was chair of its Outreach Committee. Beck served as chairman of the board of the national Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy from 2012 – 2016. In April 2017 Beck received the William E. Odom Visionary Leadership Award from Jump$tart.

Prior to his appointment at NEFE, Beck served as associate dean of Executive Education and Corporate Relations at the University of Wisconsin - Madison School of Business. Before joining the university in 1999, he spent more than 20 years in various positions for Citibank/Citigroup, including his last position as a managing director and market manager. Beck received a B.A. from the University of Notre Dame and an MBA from the Wisconsin School of Business.
