Brenton Thompson

Brenton Thompson is a Principal at ghSMART. He serves leaders across Fortune 500 companies and private equity firms on their most pressing leadership priorities, including executive talent assessment, leadership coaching and development, and organizational effectiveness.

Prior to ghSMART, Brenton was an Associate Partner at Bain & Company where he advised CEOs and senior executives across multiple industries on their most critical strategic, operational, and organizational challenges. His primary areas of focus included growth strategy, customer experience, business performance improvement, operating model design, and private equity due diligence. In addition to client work, Brenton led the Associate Consultant Program in Bain’s Chicago office where he was responsible for the professional development of more than 150 Associate Consultants.

Earlier in his career, Brenton worked as a federal bank regulator for the U.S. Department of Treasury and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation where he evaluated the financial condition, risk profile, and management practices of dozens of banks during the global financial crisis.

Brenton holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
