Angelina Strum

Director, Special Education at Giant Steps

Angelina Strum is the current Director of Special Education at Giant Steps. Angelina has held this position since May 2012. Prior to that, they were an Assistant Principal at Plainfield Community Consolidated School District #202 from August 2010 to May 2012. In that role, they oversaw all special education services for students, including IEPs, case managers, related services providers, supervision of TAs, 504 Coordinator, Behavior Intervention, scheduling, discipline, LEA, etc. Angelina was also the RTI Coordinator at the building level and Student Support Team Coordinator.

In addition to their work in education, Angelina has also been a member of the Chicagoland Board of Directors for Autism Speaks since June 2010. In that role, they have helped to raise awareness and provide support for families affected by autism.

Angelina Strum has a Bachelor of Applied Science in Special Education and Teaching from Illinois State University. Angelina also has a Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Administration, General from Concordia University Chicago and a Master of Education in Special Education and Teaching from National Louis University. Angelina is a Board Certified Teacher and an Exceptional Needs Specialist. Angelina is currently the Director of Special Education at Northern Illinois University.
