Silvia Varela

Silvia Varela is currently the Chief Product Officer at gibobs allbanks since November 2020. Prior to that, they worked at Telefonica from 2014 to 2020, holding various roles including Head of Products - New Business IoT (Smart Retail and Smart Energy) and Product Manager. Silvia was responsible for managing teams, implementing Agile methodologies, defining product strategies, and launching new products. Silvia also has experience as the Co-founder & CEO of SHERPANDIPITY, an online marketplace, from 2012 to 2014. Additionally, they worked as a Founder at The Founder Institute, a start-up accelerator, in 2012. Before that, they worked as a Software engineer for NOKIA and Telefonica I+D at Altran from 2006 to 2010 and as a HW/SW engineer at SENSORIA Engineer and services from 2005 to 2006. Silvia's early career includes experience as a HW/SW development engineer at SAPEC from 2002 to 2005.

Silvia Varela has an extensive education history. In 1997, they started their studies at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, where they obtained a degree in Telecommunications Engineering in 2003. In 2008, Silvia pursued a Master's degree in Business Telecommunications Management at the same university, completing it in 2009.

In 2010, Silvia enrolled at the University of Deusto, where they pursued a Master's degree in International Humanitarian Aid, specializing in the field of Humanitarian Aid. Silvia completed this program in 2011.

Silvia continued their education in 2017 by participating in the Intrapreneurship Program at Universitas Telefónica, focusing on Business Administration and Management. In the same year, they obtained the PROJECT MANAGEMENT PROFESSIONAL (PMP)® CREDENTIAL from the Institute of Project Management.

In 2019, Silvia attended Universitas Telefónica again and completed the Global Project Management (GMP) program.

Most recently, in 2020, Silvia pursued a Master's degree in Big Data and Business Intelligence at IMF Business School and Universidad de Nebrija. Additionally, they obtained the IDB35x: Big Data sin misterios certification from the Inter-American Development Bank in March 2020.
