Prakash Kannan

Chief Economist at GIC

Prakash Kannan began their work experience in 1998 at the Central Bank of Malaysia as a Senior Executive. Prakash continued their career at the International Monetary Fund in 2006, working as an Economist until 2012. In 2012, they joined GIC as the Head of Total Portfolio Management and later became the Deputy Chief Economist. Prakash currently holds the roles of Managing Director and Chief Economist at GIC.

Prakash Kannan obtained a Bachelor of Science (SB) degree in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 1994-1998. Prakash then pursued their Ph.D. in Economics from Stanford University, completing it from 2001-2006.
