Dave Horwitz's work experience begins in 1986 at Hewlett-Packard, where they worked as a Software Engineer. During their time there, they implemented SS7 ISDN User Part for enhanced services telephony platform solution and conducted technology trials with telecom providers for ISDN, Frame Relay, SMDS, and ATM.
In 1997, Horwitz moved on to TouchWave, Inc. as a Senior Software Engineer until 1999.
Dave then joined Cisco Systems as a Senior Software Engineer in 1999 and continued in that role until 2007. During their time at Cisco, they designed and implemented a minimum disruption restart for hitless router software upgrade, implemented Frame Relay LMI protocol on IOX GSR, and was a team lead for T.
In 2009, Horwitz joined Echelon as a Senior Software Engineer and stayed until 2012. During their time there, they successfully designed and implemented a dual-stack solution allowing legacy ISO/IEC 14908-1 devices to interact with new equipment and provided transparency for existing customer applications.
Their most recent company is Gigamon, where they have held several roles. Dave started as a Senior Software Engineer in 2012 and then became a Senior Staff Software Engineer in 2014. Later in 2014, Horwitz was promoted to Principal Engineer, SW, their current position.
Dave Horwitz earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer and Information Science from The Ohio State University's College of Engineering. In addition to their degree, they have obtained several certifications, including Cybersecurity with Cloud Computing, Learning Threat Modeling for Security Professionals, Privacy by Design: Data Classification, Programming Foundations: Secure Coding, Secure Coding in C, and Ethical Hacking: Cryptography. These certifications were obtained from LinkedIn, with the most recent obtained in April 2021.
