Chief of Police at Gilbert Police Department

Michael Soelberg serves as the Chief of Police for the Gilbert Police Department since June 2017, following a distinguished career with the City of Mesa where the roles included Assistant Chief overseeing the Community Engagement & Employee Services Bureau, as well as various positions such as Commander, Lieutenant, Sergeant, Detective, and Police Officer. Michael’s professional development includes a Fellowship with the Police Foundation from 2009 to 2010, and advanced training through the FBI National Academy in 2014 and the Major Cities Chiefs Association Police Executive Leadership Institute from 2016 to 2017. Michael holds a Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Administration from Northern Arizona University and two Bachelor of Science degrees from Weber State University in Criminal Justice and History.
