Andrea Best

Andrea Best is a seasoned executive in the field of patient safety and clinical development, currently serving as Vice President and Head of Patient Safety at Gilead Sciences since June 2025. Prior to this role, Best held various leadership positions at AbbVie, including VP of Patient Safety, Quality, Aesthetics & Devices, and Executive Medical Director for both Clinical Trial Safety and Therapeutic Area Safety from April 2015 to April 2025. Additionally, Andrea contributed as a consultant at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, focusing on pharmacovigilance system strengthening in low to middle-income countries from November 2016 to January 2025. Earlier experience includes significant roles at Abbott, where Best was Global Head of Pain Development and held various directorial positions from February 2003 to March 2011, as well as serving as Assistant Professor of Medicine at Loyola University Medical Center from August 1998 to June 2001.
