Joe Piechura

Joe Piechura is an experienced scientist with a robust background in biochemistry and molecular biology. Currently serving as Senior Organism Engineer 2 (Associate Technical Director) at Ginkgo Bioworks, Inc. since October 2020, Joe has held various engineering roles within the company. Prior to this, Joe worked at Indigo from June 2018 to September 2020 as a Scientist II and Computational Microbiologist, focusing on next-generation sequencing technology and leading a small team in research and development. Additional experience includes a brief tenure as a Bioinformatics Consultant at Molecular Stethoscope in early 2018. Joe earned a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Harvard University and a BS in Biochemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
