Keesha Hughes, CDP, is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and talent management. Currently serving as the Director of DEI and Talent Management at Girls Inc. since November 2022, Keesha previously held the position of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer at The Indianapolis Public Library, where valuable advisory and strategic development skills were utilized to advance DEI initiatives. Previous roles include Communications Director and Anti-Racism Committee Leader at Perry Township Schools, as well as Strategic Partnerships Coordinator for Indianapolis Public Schools. Keesha’s early career includes roles in journalism and public relations, such as Weekend Executive Producer at Tribune Broadcasting - FOX59 and Account Manager at Borshoff. Keesha holds a MA in Public Relations from Indiana University Indianapolis and a BS in Mass Communication from Middle Tennessee State University.

Girls Inc. inspires all girls to be strong, smart, and bold through direct service and advocacy. Our comprehensive approach to whole girl development equips girls to navigate gender, economic, and social barriers and grow up healthy, educated, and independent. These positive outcomes are achieved through three core elements: people - trained staff and volunteers who build lasting, mentoring relationships; environment - girls-only, physically and emotionally safe, where there is a sisterhood of support, high expectations, and mutual respect; and programming - research-based, hands-on and minds-on, age-appropriate, meeting the needs of today’s girls. Informed by girls and their families, we also advocate for legislation and policies to increase opportunities for all girls.
