Girls Leadership
Kayla Gelman, LSW, serves as a Grants and Communications Specialist at Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Newark since July 2015 while also working as a New Jersey Educator for Girls Leadership. Formerly a Program Manager at Playworks, Kayla managed ten school sites and supported AmeriCorps Program Coordinators, enhancing youth programming. With a background that includes roles such as Vice President of the Board of Directors at North Rampart Community Center and Grants Program Assistant at Baptist Community Ministries, Kayla has extensive experience in grant management, program development, and strategic planning. Kayla holds a Master of Social Work from Southern University at New Orleans and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Montclair State University.
Girls Leadership
Girls Leadership teaches girls how to exercise the power of their voice through programs grounded in social-emotional learning. We provide programs for girls, workshops for families, and professional development training for teachers, guidance counselors, and non-profit staff. We center gender and racial equity in our work to address the internal and external barriers to leadership development. Our work is structured around four central values: Authentic Communication, Courageous Growth, Equity, and Play. Girls includes anyone who identifies as a girl, as well as non-binary and gender expansive youth
