Ethan Urie

Ethan Urie is an experienced software engineer with a strong background in backend development and security features. Currently serving as a Staff Backend Engineer at GitLab since August 2019, Ethan has focused on designing and implementing secret and personally identifiable information (PII) detection features. Past roles include senior positions at Treehouse, Rosetta Stone, and Cogent Design, where Ethan contributed to various web services and platforms, while also mentoring junior developers. Ethan’s freelance work includes developing an AngularJS client for a Java SE application. Educational qualifications include a Master's in Software Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelor's in Computer Science from Rochester Institute of Technology.
