Wa'el Safi possesses extensive experience in environmental management and solid waste projects, with a career spanning over two decades. At the Municipal Development & Lending Fund (MDLF), Safi supervised the Environmental & Social Impact Assessment for the Gaza Strip Solid Waste Management Project. As a Project Advisor at Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, responsibilities included implementing the UNRWA Solid Waste Management Strategy and managing the EUTF co-financed Solid Waste Management Project. Earlier, at the Ministry of Environmental Affairs, Safi played a pivotal role in developing Palestine's first Environmental Strategy and Action Plan. Educational qualifications include a Master's Degree in Environmental Science & Technology from UNESCO-IHE and a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Bir Zeit University, complemented by a certification in Water Supply & Environmental Sanitation from Bir Zeit University-UNESCO IHE.
