Amanda Clarke

As International Director, Amanda is responsible for directing GL Education’s highly skilled support team which helps the business’s overseas customers. Her primary objective is to grow the company’s business outside the UK, from South America to Africa, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Oceania.

Amanda recently joined GL Education after nine years with Scholastic Inc. She was initially its Director of Sales for the Middle East and Africa before moving on to have global responsibility for special sales projects, where she focused on working with NGOs and ministries of education. In total, Amanda has more than 20 years’ experience in international business development.

After graduation, she opened a bookshop in Kuwait. This quickly expanded into a school supply business and after a few very successful years was sold and franchised to two other countries, after which Amanda relocated to Dubai and took a position with Oxford University Press.

Amanda initially studied business at Bradford University and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and she is currently studying for a Masters in international relations at Nottingham Trent University.
