Claire Shiel

Claire Shiel serves as the Volunteer Manager for Glasgow City Council since July 2020, where Claire has established a vibrant volunteer programme that fosters community engagement. With extensive experience in volunteer management for major events, Claire was the Workforce Manager for the World Athletics Indoor Championships Glasgow 24 and the Senior Volunteer Manager for the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships. Previous roles include Strategic Lead for Volunteer Management for COP26 and UEFA EURO 2020, as well as Volunteer Coordinator positions for various sporting events. Claire has a strong foundation in administration and logistics from earlier positions, including PA/Department Coordinator at Glasgow Caledonian University, and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Geography and Tourism from the University of Strathclyde.
