Karen Y. Torrejon has a strong background in biosciences and research. Karen Y. co-founded Humonix Biosciences, Inc. in 2014, where they currently serve as the Co-Founder and CSO. Karen Y. also founded Glauconix Biosciences, Inc. in 2019 and held the position of Founder and CSO until 2023. Prior to these entrepreneurial ventures, Karen worked at the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering as a Graduate Research Assistant from 2010 to 2015. Karen Y. also has experience as a Research Associate at the Pharmaceutical Research Institute at Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, where they conducted drug discovery and preclinical testing using novel chitosan nanoparticles.

Karen Y. Torrejon completed their education at the University at Albany, SUNY. Karen Y. earned a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry and Physics, which they pursued from 2006 to 2010. Following that, they furthered their studies at the same institution and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Nanotechnology with a specialization in tissue engineering. This degree was completed between the years 2010 and 2015.
