Lionel Mages

Lionel Mages, ACMA, is an accomplished finance professional with extensive experience in managing iron ore assets and trade accounting. Currently serving as Iron Ore Asset Manager at Glencore since January 2010, Lionel has held various leadership positions including Director and CFO of Sphere Minerals Ltd, General Manager of Sphere Mauritania SA, and Director of multiple joint venture companies in Mauritania and Congo. Previous experience includes significant roles at Credit Suisse France, where Lionel led the controlling team for Private Banking, and British American Tobacco, where responsibilities encompassed marketing finance and financial analysis. Lionel holds a Master’s degree in Finance from the HEC Lausanne and a Master’s in Finance from the University of St. Gallen, complemented by a qualification as a Management Accountant from The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.
