Ann H. Ransford

The Glendale Community College District (GCCD) Board of Trustees has elected Ms. Ann Ransford to serve as its current Board President.

Ann Ransford knows from personal experience the important role community colleges play in providing education. She credits attendance at Oakland City College with her success. She went on to earn a BS from San Jose State University and a MA from Pacific Oaks College.

In 2006 she retired after a 36-year career at Glendale Community College as the Director of Communications, Marketing and Foundation.

Ms. Ransford has shared her skill, as a consultant, with local organizations and community college foundations across the state and nation in the areas of fund raising, marketing and long range planning.

On May 2017 Ann Ransford was elected president of the California Community College League, CCCT (California Community College Trustees) board. The CCCT has a 21-member board elected by the 72 local community college district governing boards. In this position there is opportunity to advocate for policy and resources for GCC students.

She also serves on the California Community College Chancellor’s Advisory Committee on Guided Pathways, the Fiscal Crisis and Management Assistance Team (FCMAT), an organization dedicated to identify, prevent and resolve financial and operational challenges by providing management and professional development for California’s K-14 educational agencies, and the Community College League of California’s Taskforce focused on the Student Centered Funding Formula.

She is and has been an active participant in the greater Glendale community as a member of the executive board of the YMCA, YWCA, Glendale Chamber of Commerce, Glendale Rotary, Temple Sinai, Glendale Rose Float Association, Glendale Association for the Retarded, Greater Glendale Committee on Aging, Career Encores and Life Services, Inc. She also served a 6-year term, including chair, on the City of Glendale Parks, Recreation and Community Services Commission. Ann was honored in 2007 with the Citizen of the Year Award from the Glendale Association of Realtors and in 2009, the J. Walter Smith Award presented by the Glendale College Alumni Association, Liberty Bell Award present by the Glendale Bar Association, Special Chair's Recognition from the City of Glendale Commission on the Status of Women and a Women Achiever Award presented by Business Life Magazine.
