Cynthia Ma

Cynthia Ma has extensive experience in the legal and financial services industry. Cynthia began their career in 2009 as an Associate in the Banking & Capital Markets Practice Group at Berwin Leighton Paisner LLP. In 2011, they moved to K&L Gates as a Senior Associate. In 2014, they became Chief Legal Counsel and a Director at Otkritie Capital International Limited (formerly Otkritie Securities Limited). In 2015, they were appointed General Counsel at MarketInvoice. Cynthia then held a Consultant role at RBC Capital Markets in 2017. In the same year, they were a Financial Services Regulatory Consultant (Simmon & Simmons) on secondment at MUFG Securities (Advisory, Legal Department). From 2018 to 2019, they were a Financial Services Regulatory Consultant at Simmons & Simmons. Cynthia then moved to Ashfords LLP as a Legal Director, Financial Services Regulation. In 2021, they were appointed Managing Associate at Womble Bond Dickinson (UK) LLP. Currently, they are a Legal and Regulatory Counsel at Globacap.

Cynthia Ma has an extensive educational background. Cynthia completed their PhD in Philosophy of Physics from The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) in 2001. Prior to that, they obtained a BSc (Hons.), ARCS in Physics from Imperial College London. Cynthia also holds an MSc in History and Philosophy of Science from The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). In addition to their academic qualifications, Cynthia Ma has obtained two certifications: MIT xPRO - Additive Manufacturing for Innovative Design and Production from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in December 2020 and Innovation Ambassador from the City of London Corporation in November 2020.
