Ty Beal is an experienced leader in food systems data and analytics, currently serving as the Head of Food Systems Data and Analytics at the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) since November 2017. In this role, Ty Beal spearheads research initiatives that connect nutrition science and policy, providing strategic direction and technical oversight for data initiatives that support evidence-based decision-making in global food systems. Prior to GAIN, Ty Beal was a recipient of the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship and gained valuable experience as a Doctoral Student in Geography with a focus on Global Nutrition at the University of California, Davis, where fieldwork included interviews with decision-makers in Vietnam. Ty Beal holds a PhD in Geography, a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Arts and Psychology from Arizona State University, and an Associate of Science in Engineering from Glendale Community College.
